Safety and Security
The Raleigh School is committed to creating a nurturing and safe environment for its employees, children and families. When considering ways to enhance our community's safety, we will continue to prioritize:
- A progressive, child-centered approach to teaching and learning
- A daily experience that has children learning both inside And outside of the classroom
- A high degree of parent involvement on campus daily
- The use of outside experts and knowledge of research and best practices
All safety and security decisions at TRS aim to strike a balance between making reasonable and prudent accommodations that help keep our community safe, while still preserving an open and inviting campus. Our safety/security plans reflect our mission and values and also take into account the unique location and design of our campus, the ages of our children, and the resources available.
Ensuring the safety and security of our community is a complex process that involves reviewing and considering various aspects of school life. This includes but is not limited to, the social and emotional curriculum, the physical campus, cyber security, support personnel such as nurses and school counselors, health and fire safety codes, document storage and retention, handbooks, illness and infectious diseases, and emergency procedures and communications.
Specific policies and practices are in place to help protect the safety and well-being of our community including safety drills, safety training, background checks, audited inspections, and working with outside authorities for guidance and support.
