Application Process

Interested in learning more about The Raleigh School? Please take a moment to complete our inquiry form so that we can answer your questions and provide any specific information you may need before you start the application process.

Please Note: If you are a current TRS family, or if you have previously submitted an inquiry, you do not need to complete this step again.

In this section, you'll be asked for student demographic information, family information, and a parent statement. Once you've completed the above, you will be asked to submit your non-refundable application fee of $100 (per child).

We believe it is critical that families come to know our school and mission before making a commitment to The Raleigh School. Registration for our upcoming information sessions and tours can be found on our Admissions events page:

Once you gain access to your admissions portal, you will see an admissions checklist requesting supporting documentation. These items include:

- Birth Certificate

- Vaccination Records

Please Note: 

-Families of children who have previously attended a preschool or childcare program will be asked to have their child's teacher complete a confidential Teacher Recommendation Form. If your child has not attended a preschool or childcare program, this requirement will be waived.

- Children applying to our Preschool 4s program are also asked to submit their most recent Progress Report, if one is available from their current school. If a Progress Report is not provided by the school, this requirement will be waived.

As part of our holistic admissions process, some Preschool 3s and Preschool 4s applicants may be invited to participate in a classroom visit. To be considered for a classroom visit during our first round of admissions, families should submit a completed application by December 11. 

Classroom visits provide applicants with the opportunity to spend approximately 90 minutes in one of our preschool classrooms. During this time, children have an opportunity to explore the classroom, engage with materials, and interact with teachers and peers in a natural setting. The visit helps our admissions committee get to know each child and observe how they approach play, interact with other children, and engage in the classroom environment. 

Families selected for a classroom visit will receive an invitation in January. Applicants who apply after the first consideration deadline may be invited to participate in a classroom visit if space remains available. 

Families applying to our Preschool are required to complete an interview with Jennifer Martin, Preschool Director, or Sharice Chandler, Director of Admissions and Marketing. While we prefer to meet families in person, we're happy to conduct virtual interviews for families who live out of town. We also understand that scheduling can sometimes make an in person visit difficult, and we may be able to arrange a virtual interview in those situations as well.
