Community Partnerships
Meredith College Partnership
At The Raleigh School, we believe in partnering with organizations that share our values and goals in order to make a positive impact in our local community and beyond. Back in 1965, we partnered with N.C. State University to conduct one of the earliest Head Start teacher training programs in the state. By observing and learning from experienced teachers, child development students gained valuable insights into how to teach a class of sixteen children at Raleigh Preschool.
Today, we remain committed to nurturing the next generation of educators who embody the values and principles of The Raleigh School Way. Through our more than 40-year partnership with Meredith College, undergraduates pursuing a degree in Child Development have the opportunity to observe our teachers in action, learn their teaching methods, and gain a deeper understanding of high-quality, progressive, early childhood education. This year alone, more than 25 Meredith students will be spending time in our preschool and elementary classrooms, grades preschool through first grade. For these students and for generations of Meredith students before them, The Raleigh School serves as the gold standard for their own teaching and parenting practices. During a recent visit to Meredith College, our Head of School overheard an undergraduate who had completed a placement at TRS describe our school as heaven on earth! We couldn’t agree more.
