Overview

When children, teachers and parents come together, amazing things happen. That is The Raleigh School, a uniquely child-centered independent school serving the vibrant community of Raleigh, NC. For over 65 years the school has functioned as a village of play-based, hands-on, integrated learning for students 18 months of age through fifth grade, now serving over 400 children. The Raleigh School is truly mission-driven. It has never wavered from its philosophy and approach, and so its reputation in the community is well established and highly respected. The school’s graduates have a high rate of success in middle school and beyond. Faculty and staff are highly engaged and enjoy flexibility, autonomy, and creativity. TRS parents are highly supportive and involved in their children’s education, and they volunteer countless hours of service to the school.

The campus is comprised of 18 wooded acres, 18 classrooms, the Arts and Athletic Center, Media Center and extensive natural play areas, including a new elementary playscape. Outdoor learning, including exploration through field trips, is integral to the curriculum. Raleigh is located in the southeastern corner of the Research Triangle, a prospering area with three leading research universities, many high-tech companies and an impressive array of museums and cultural activities.

Preschool Assistant Teacher(This position is for Two-Year-Old class, Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30 am - 1:30 pm beginning August, 2024)

The preschool assistant teacher is a vital member of the preschool classroom community. Working together with the lead teacher, the assistant teacher is responsible for supporting the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of the children in the class. As a member of the school community, the assistant teacher will be supportive of the lead teacher, fellow faculty members, parents, school administration, members of the Board of Trustees, and the mission of The Raleigh School.

Job Requirements

The preschool assistant teacher must have a high school degree or GED, as well as the necessary college credits and experience in early childhood education necessary to meet the current NAEYC accreditation standard. Preference will be given to applicants with a college degree, early childhood education or child development background, and/or experience in a preschool classroom.
