Admissions Process

We are delighted that you are interested in The Raleigh School for your child.

We look forward to helping you learn about our preschool and we welcome inquiries at any time during the year. In order to best acquaint yourself with our school’s curriculum and philosophy, we encourage you to contact us to arrange a visit and receive a packet of written information.

Visitation Days

All parents interested in applying to The Raleigh School are invited to observe in our classrooms. Special visitation days have been designed for this purpose. The visitations typically last about an hour and a half. During your visit, you will have the opportunity to observe in one or more classrooms, tour the preschool campus, and meet with Elizabeth Gilleland, the preschool director. Please note that visitations are for adults only. Also, space is limited, so we ask that you make an appointment to attend. Priority Admissions Dates

Applications for the upcoming school year become available to parents early in the fall prior to the applied-for year. For the 2008-2009 school year, currently enrolled children and their siblings must submit their applications by December 3, 2007 in order to receive priority status. Children who are new to our school must submit their applications by February 29, 2008 in order to be included in our placement lottery. Children whose applications are received after the February 29th deadline will be placed either in classes or on waiting lists as space permits.

Application

Please contact the preschool office in order to receive a written application. To apply, complete the application and return it to the office, accompanied by a $90 nonrefundable application fee and a photocopy of your child’s birth certificate. Applications are not considered complete and applicants will not be considered for placement without all of the above items.

Enrollment Forms and Fee

Once class placements are made, parents are notified by mail. Parents have two weeks to confirm their child’s enrollment. Enrollment is confirmed upon return of the completed and signed Parent Acceptance of Responsibilities form and payment of the facility fee.
