Financial Aid
Economic diversity is important to The Raleigh School. We have limited financial aid available to currently enrolled Raleigh School students in our preschool and elementary divisions or to students who have applied and to whom enrollment has been offered. Financial aid is designed to cover tuition charges only and the funds are allocated according to demonstrated financial need as determined by the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) in Princeton, New Jersey.
Parents may request a financial aid packet from Sharon Mitchell in Admissions at (919) 546-0788 ext. 117 or . Financial aid applications are also available at the preschool and elementary offices upon request.
Applying for Financial Aid
Parents file a Parents' Financial Statement (PFS), which is included in the financial aid packet, with the SSS in Princeton. Parents may also submit their information electronically through SSS Online.
The SSS system considers gross taxable and non-taxable income, assets, liabilities, family size, and the number of students in tuition-charging schools. After an allowance for basic necessities and required taxes, the remaining funds are considered available for education. The more money you earn and assets you have, the greater the expected family contribution toward tuition. Financial aid is awarded without regard to race, gender, handicap, national and ethnic origin, or religion.
Current school families reapply for financial aid each year in the fall and recalculations are made using current information. The families of new student applicants apply through SSS during the admissions process for the following school year. All families who apply for financial aid must submit copies of their current tax return, W-2’s, and 1099’s to the Admissions Office by January 15 and no later than March 1 of the year preceding enrollment. Financial aid decisions are made after an applicant has completed the admissions process, submitted the appropriate financial aid documentation, and been accepted to The Raleigh School.
